The GhosBSD based on TrueOS and OpenRC integrated, far from the mother system FreeBSD that has nothing to do.

I don't know Joe personally but he was a heavy contributor to a prior distro attempt called DesktopBSD. When he got hired at ixsystems, he stopped contributing and the distro folded. I don't think FuryBSD has anything to do with ixsystems other than the fact that Joe works there and they are a huge contributor to FOSS and FreeBSD. I seem to remember the installer scripts (or was it the project build scripts?) for DesktopBSD were actually from the GhostBSD project.hunghung wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 11:36 pm I think FuryBSD is iXsystems' answer to Project Trident's decision to switch to a Void Linux base. It's XFCE based.

It seemed GhostBSD will have another competitor
I also don't think it's fair to say that Project Trident has "switched" to Void Linux. It's a desktop project so it only makes sense to support the GNU/Linux community as well. I wish them all the luck and I may try their void image for hoots-n-toots.

Ha ha. Joe Maloney is one of two members of the GhostBSD project, the other being Eric. Hardly what I'd call a competitor, hunghung wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2019 11:36 pm I think FuryBSD is iXsystems' answer to Project Trident's decision to switch to a Void Linux base. It's XFCE based.
