package and system updates

Hello,

Is there a correct sequence for upgrading packages and system updates ?
should octopkg, update manager, or portsnap fetch be used and in what sequence ?
This will be on a clean install of 10.1 mate.

Octopck upgrade pkg and update-station do update FreeBSD base system and upgrade pkg. Portsnap install and update ports tree.

freebsd-update fetch install or the update-station but my update-station wont start

update-station should start automatically unless you have some broken dependency.
