Swinging on in.....

Post by MintSpider »

Greetings all y'all,
Scotsman in Kentucky here.
Long time computer user: starting with 8 bit machines in the early 80s, a little experience with CP/M and VaxVMS, Amiga 1200 in the 90s, first Windows PC in 1997 - online for the first time, that was with 95 then 98 & 98SE, followed by XP. At work XP, 7, 8,1, and now 10 on a laptop.
Been running Linux for well over a decade, mostly Linux Mint from version 6 to 16 (hence my nickname), before I discovered Solus 3.5 years ago, and have been using that fully since.
Recently I got interested in BSD, particularly FreeBSD via my friend RoboNuggie. Saw his video on GhostBSD and here I am.
Installed GhostBSD 20.04 on an Alienware M15x laptop. Got Nvidia 340.108 driver working fine. Looked at the Broadcom driver, my eyes rolled over at some help and forum sites, and I shall get back to it sometime.
Here is the inxi spec:

Professionally I work for God's Pantry Food Bank as a Food Procurement and Reporting Officer, serving 50 counties in Kentucky (about half of the state). We are struggling to meet the increased needs these days in the virus crisis, but we are managing.

Have joined the IRC and Telegram groups, met a few already in there and was very pleased by the warm welcome.
Kitteh was first, and have also enjoyed meeting & talking with Neville, Fred, Eric, and Achim.

Looking forward to chatting more with y'all and learning BSD.
