Hi

I am newbie BSD user from India. I installed GhostBSD recently on my desktop pc. It has wired connection to internet router.
The pkg installation is too slow. Update station is downloading the list of packages for past 20 minutes. My internet connection is pretty fast and have no issues as its speed is quite fast on another linux based machine.

Here is ifconfig output if that helps.

Code: Select all

Welcome to GhostBSD. Updates are slow due to lack of download mirrors. When GhostBSD gets more financial support this problem will be fixed.

Welcome ps2931, Glad you are here enjoying a fine operating system, GhostBSD. What did you read that brought you here to Https://GhostBSD.org/download ? Was there an article web URL that you like , and gave you reason to look at test driving Ghostbsd?

Which mirror did you use to download packages from? France, Norway, Canada, Storj , South Africa?

traceroute ghostbsd_mirror_site
ping -c 5 ghostbsd_mirror_site
ping -c 5 he.net
ping-c 5 8.8.4.4 # google dns server

these might pin point the slowdown point.

I have ported Ghostbsd to Arm64 RaspberryPi 4B, 400, 3B. Single board computer. https://Ghostbsd-Arm64.blogspot.com and http://ghostbsdarm64.hopto.org/packages
write_freebsd_img_dd_to_da1.sh download this 6,000 byte shell script file chmod +x write_*.sh then execute to download the 728Mbyte .img file and write to a usb flash drive at /dev/da1

From inside India is there a place, a computer than can host a ghostbsd mirror? takes about 500gb data transfers per month and about X disk space. X is 500gb in size to hold the ghostbsd.iso file and the 30,000 pkgs
