installation failed

Post by uberprutser »

After test-driving using VirtualBox, I decided to install on my old Lenovo Ideapad 100S laptop. (N3150 Celeron / 4GB ram / 128
Unfortunately, GhostBSD failed to load properly.
init: unable to connect to X server :connection refused
I did try the safe mode, but that made no difference.
Too bad I'm not able to upload a picture to this forum :(

Welcome to GhostBSD! That's weird. Do you have dual graphics cards?

Thanks for welcoming me, but I'm still not using GhostBSD :(
The laptop I'm using has an Intel n3150 celeron with an integrated videocard and a 720p 12-inch screen.
There is however an HDMI connector, not sure if that matters.

Your laptop does not meet the minimum hardware specifications for GhostBSD.

It''s 64 bit and it has 4 GB, isn't that enough?

Could it be, that the integrated video card is taking up too much of the main memory?

Is there more than 1 GPU? Some of these had nvidia and intel. Also 4G hardware RAM is fine and you should have a 4G swap partition too. Are you getting the could not connect to X report with the Live ISO or post installation?

I am reasonably certain there isn't a second video card, the Lenovo Ideapad 100s is a pretty cheap/basic laptop.
I'm running from a USB stick, and never managed to start the installation procedure :(
FYI; I also tried the XFCE version, and that gave me the same result.

When the grub screen shows up, if it does, edit the boot string, remove any reference to nouveau nvidia drivers and nomodeset. Should find the intel card then.
