11.1 Alpha 1 (Aug17) install problem in VirtualBox VM

Sadly I have to report that I have been unable to install the Xfce x64 version into a VirtualBox VM hosted on Windows The install appears to hang during boot with the screen looking like this:

I had to disable the audio device in the VM settings to get to this point.

VirtualBox version 5.1.22.

The VM settings look like this:

I have previously been able to install 10.3 x86 in a VB VM, but also failed to install 10.3 x64 (I don't recall whether the 10.3 x64 installation failure had the same symptoms).

I have successfully installed FreeBSD 11.0 x64 and 11.1 x64 into VirtualBox VMs on the same Windows machine with pretty much the same VM settings.

Any ideas?

I didn't get to do any configuration of GhostBSD as the apparent hang is in booting the ISO image in the newly created VM. The ISO's SHA-256 matches the published value.

The VM settings I believe changed from defaults are:
- System
+ Motherboard
* increase memory to 2GB
* disable floppy boot support
* ICH9 chipset
* hardware clock in UTC
+ Processor
* 2 CPU
- Display
+ Screen
* enable 3D acceleration
- Storage
* removed IDE controller and storage
* added SATA (AHCI) controller with 20GB hard disk and optical disk
* enable Use Host I/O Cache
- Network
+ Adapter 1 enabled
* Adapter type: Intel PRO/1000 T Server

As far as I can determine these changes are what I've used for FreeBSD 11, except the network adapter which is the same as I used for GhostBSD 10.3 x86.

I did see a reference to an NVME emulation related fix in the recently released VirtualBox 5.1.26, but updating VB hasn't change the observed behaviour.

Changing the storage configuration back to using IDE drives on a PIIX3 chipset (PIIX 4 IDE controller) instead of the SATA configuration appears to resolve this hanging issue but it would be nice to know why a configuration that works in FreeBSD 11.1 doesn't work for GhostBSD...

I tried that and the live image boot still hangs at the same point (i.e. screen is identical to screenshot above).
