How to disable the compositor and use compiz instead? It causes tearing

I used compiz once, and it fixed tearing. How to make this permanent and disable metacity?

Ok I installed the XFCE's XFWM compositor. This works also, easy to setup. Now I don't have tearing on one of the PC's. Gonna try that on the other one.
Edit: It worked on two PC's!
Can you guys consider adding a XFCE iso maybe? I think XFCE is much better.

There already is an XFCE ISO. I'm using it now. It's on the GhostBSD homepage under GhostBSD community images.
