Printer Help
Printer Help
Bottom line: I need help getting my printer to work. I have an HP 3636 printer. I installed Hplip from the Software Station. I chose the 3630 series of printers from the printer list. It has always worked on Linux, but I cannot get it to work with Ghostbsd. I tried to “re-install” Hplip (a very windowsish thing to do, I know), but it didn’t work. If someone could help me get my printer to work, I would be eternally grateful…

Re: Printer Help
Product information helps.
From https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp ... el/8655002 we can see that it's an inkjet device, and so on.
With PPD files in mind: for Linux, https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c01174360 directs us to http://hplipopensource.com/, which redirects to https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... -printing/ then https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imag ... ices/index lists this model as supported:
HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 3636 All-in-one Printer
– with a minimum HPLIP version of 3.15.6.
pkg search hplip shows 3.20.6.
Can you be descriptive about what does not work for you?

Re: Printer Help
Thanks for the info. I will be looking at it, hopefully, soon. I'll let you know how things work out. Thanks again, I do appreciate the help...
Re: Printer Help
Update to this old Post: I have since (awhile ago) updated to the latest ghostBSD. For whatever reason, printing now works fine. I don't want to try to figure it out, I'm just glad everything is working. ghostBSD has, pretty much, become my daily driver. Thanks to everyone who offered advice...
