OBS Studio and recordmydesktop fails to run

Post by swarfendor437 »

Installed OBS Studio which continually reports failed to run last time and suggests safe mode - still nothing. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, installing add-on packages listed in software station. Similarly, recordmydesktop does nothing and does not get listed in Sound and Video. Had to settle for Simple Screen Recorder.

Does OBS studio start but not record or does it not start at all?

Hi I am a new GhostBSD user (GhostBSD 14.07.3) and am trying to install obs-studio to it.

Initially I tried to install via Software Station, but was having issues with it not appearing in the application menu, or not booting from terminal unless I selected safe mode.

So I uninstalled obs-studio from Software Station and then did a pkg install obs-studio from fish. Although this did not result in OBS Studio appearing in the application menu, when I invoke it from the command line it seems to run as expected. So thanks @RodMyers for the tip!

Now, is there a way to tweak somewhere so that OBS Studio appears in the application menu?
