I am desperate to use GhostBSD but 1 big problem

Hi,
I used the Live Mode & tested my hardware. Almost everything worked perfectly including my usb wifi but I didn't find any sign of my usb bluetooth. No icon on the panel to indicate that its recognized & working.

I am really short on cash right now so cant buy new hardware. My bluetooth is working out of the box under Linux.

Code: Select all

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)
Is it possible to make this bluetooth device to work under GhostBSD ?

GhostBSD supports Bluetooth, but it is still a manual setup to do under GhostBSD, no one took time to automate that part yet.

@NevilleGoddard do you think you could help him?

Great to know there is hope. Even if it takes to type commands every time I need to connect my bluetooth headphone I am ready.
But before I actually wipe out my Linux installation & install GhostBSD I want to make sure I am able to connect my headphone in Live mode.

@ericbsd
Debian is already installed.
If I create some free space & install GhostBSD alongside Debian will GhostBSD's GRUB detect Debian & add it to the boot menu ?
If that's possible no need to fight with bluetooth issue.

GhostBSD does not use Grub, we use rEFInd and it autodetects most Linux.

I am at the moment backing up all important data to a usb drive.
While I was in the Live mode I just tested hardware compatibility I didn't start the installer.

Should I use Gparted using Linux live environment to create the free space ? Or will the GhostBSD installer offer a graphical way to do the same thing ?

I am not yet familiar with GhostBSD's commands.

Successfully installed alongside Linux. I am updating the system right now with the commands :

Code: Select all

sudo pkg update -f

Code: Select all

sudo pkg upgrade
Can GhostBSD read EXT4 partitions ? If it can it will be very cool. (If I need to create a new thread about this issue please just ask)

BTW the installer didn't let me resize partitions so I used a Linux live DVD.

You guys have made FreeBSD really really easy. Thanks a lot.

Do you want to use Bluetooth for file transfers?
